St. John Vianney is a Roman Catholic Church with a unique life and witness. While we are fully Catholic, we are part of a special jurisdiction within the Roman Catholic Church known as the “Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.”
This ordinariate was created by Pope Benedict XVI especially for Anglicans who wanted to come into the Catholic Church and retain many of their customs and culture.
While St. John Vianney’s founding members came from the Anglican Church, the congregation now includes other former protestants, as well as other Catholics.
St. John Vianney retains many traditions from its protestant background such as classical protestant hymns, Sunday School, and an emphasis on the study of the Holy Scriptures.
