Pilgrimage activities:
In Milan we will visit the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), which tells a story of faith and art spanning over six centuries, and explore the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (19th-20th century King of Italy), an architectural masterpiece that shapes the cultural and historical identity of Milan. Enjoy fascinating glass domes, artistic mosaics, and elegant boutiques.
We’ll take a ferry boat to Venice and enjoy a guided tour, including iconic St Mark Square and Basilica, famous for its architecture (Byzantine, Gothic, and Renaissance styles). We will celebrate Mass.
In Padua we will visit the the Basilica of Saint Anthony, Church Doctor and Franciscan Priest (a contemporary of St Francis of Assisi). We’ll celebrate Mass.
In Florence, we will explore the Florence Cathedral and Baptistry, majestic Giotto Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria Square (the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic), and Ponte Vecchio Bridge, the old town symbol of Italian Renaissance. We will celebrate Mass.
Upon arrival in Siena we will visit the St Francis Basilica, the site of a Eucharistic Miracle, where we will celebrate Mass. We will explore the Basilica of St Domenico, site of the relic of St Catherine of Siena and visit the Duomo di Siena, a Romanesque medieval church with renaissance art. We’ll have time for lunch on our own and shopping.
In Assisi, we’ll visit the Basilica of San Francesco and the Tomb of St Carlo Acutis. We will celebrate Mass, with the remainder of the day dedicated to private devotion or activities. You may choose to walk to the Basilica of Santa Chiara (St Clare), the church of San Damiano, or the Rocca Maggiore castle.
Rome finds us enjoying a multitude of pilgrimage sites during our four days there including the major Basilicas (St Mary Major and St John in Lateran [the Mother Church of all Christendom]). Daily Mass. We’ll visit ancient Rome, seeing the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. We will visit St Paul Outside the Walls and celebrate Mass there. After attending the Papal Audience with Pope Leo XIV in St Peter’s Square, our guide will take us through the Vatican City, and the Papal Basilica of St Peter’s, the spiritual heart of Christianity, seeing Bernini’s bronze baldachin, Michelangelo’s Pieta, and much more. We will tour the Vatican Museum with unrivaled collection of classical art, tapestries, sculptures, and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. We’ll have a Farewell dinner at Le Terme del Colosseo before a final full day at St Paul Outside the Walls, the Appian Way, the oldest road from Roman times, the ancient Baths of Caracalla, the Arch of Drusus, the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, and the 3rd century AD catacombs of St Callixtus, where the early Christians hid.evolved into something more.
